Harappan-era city Dholavira inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List
A Harappan-era city, Dholavira has been added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Site on 27th July 2021. Dholavira is located in Gujarat’s Rann of Kutch. With this, Dholavira has now become the 40th site in India to be given the UNESCO’s World Heritage Inscription.
The decision was taken during the ongoing World Heritage Committee’s 44th session that is being chaired from Fuzhou (China) between July 16 and 31, 2021.
Related Important Points
Since 2014, India has added 10 new World Heritage sites.
Gujarat so far has three world heritage sites:
- Champaner near Pavagadh,
- Rani ki Vav in Patan and
- The historic city of Ahmedabad.
